More Than 800 Attend VCUSD Back-to-School Event at Loma Vista Farm

VALLEJO, Calif. — Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD) welcomed more than 800 students, families, staff, and community members to Loma Vista Farm for its Back-to-School Community Event, bringing the community together for an afternoon of connection, resources, and family fun.

Held at one of Vallejo’s best-kept secrets, Loma Vista Farm, the event gave families an opportunity to explore the farm while connecting with VCUSD departments and local community organizations. Families learned about programs, services, and resources available to support students throughout the school year.

The event is part of VCUSD’s growing commitment to strengthening relationships with the families and community it serves through an effort the district calls Cultivating Community.

“Cultivating Community is about creating more opportunities for us to get out into the community, listen to our families, and build meaningful relationships,” VCUSD Chief of Communications and Community Engagement Celina Baguiao said. “The turnout exceeded our expectations, but what stood out most were the conversations. We heard from so many families who were excited to be there and shared positive experiences with our schools. Those are the connections we want to continue building.”

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this event possible,” Baguiao said. “It took many hands to bring the day together, and seeing hundreds of families enjoying themselves, connecting with our staff, and spending time together made all of that work worthwhile.”

The Back-to-School event is one of several ways the district plans to expand its community engagement efforts. Through Cultivating Community, VCUSD will continue to create opportunities to meet families outside traditional school and district settings, strengthen partnerships, and make it easier for families to connect with the district.

VCUSD thanks the families, staff members, volunteers, community organizations, the Friends of Loma Vista Farm, and all other partners who helped make the event a success.
