VCUSD Board of Education Approves School Closure Decisions and $32 Million in Budget Reductions

VALLEJO, Calif. — At its meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 17, the Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD) Board of Education approved a series of school closure decisions for the end of the 2025–26 school year. The Board voted to close Highland, Lincoln, and Pennycook Elementary Schools.

VCUSD Reports Progress and Reaffirms Commitment to Achieving Excellence

The California Department of Education released its 2025 California School Dashboard for the Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD), providing an opportunity to assess our strengths, identify areas of growth, and pinpoint areas that still require improvement. VCUSD Superintendent Rubén Aurelio shared that he feels hopeful and determined to keep moving forward.
